It’s going to be heartbreak hotel if this Elvis bet doesn’t come off.
We’ve all thrown on a daft bet from time to time but this is up there with one of the strangest. Not just because of the bet itself, but because of how confident the person placing the bet is about it.
This one bettor has thrown £325 (€365) in total on a bet which hopes to bring a big musician back to life before the year is out.
The Paddy Power customer has been inundating them with bet requests – on the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll Elvis Presley being found alive in 2017.
The Elvis enthusiast, from Kent, is relentless – placing a series of bets over the past 48 hours, over both the internet and phone, amounting to £25 at odds of 2000/1 and a total of £300 at 1000/1.
A spokesman for Paddy Power said about the Elvis bet: “Sometimes, the gags write themselves. I’m All Shook Up at this punter’s bets, which seem impossible – but clearly, he has a suspicious mind.
“I think he might be barking up the wrong tree or, then again, he might be nothing but a hound dog.”
If the punter wins, they stand to collect £350,000 (€390,o00).
It seems highly unlikely but the punter is so confident that it makes us ask the question, does he know something we don’t know?
