These five chancers have set up a GoFundMe page to raise cash for a post-Leaving Cert holiday in Tenerife

If you don’t ask…

Going on holiday after the Leaving Cert is a rite of passage for many Irish students and has been for years.

At the end of one of the most stressful years in a person’s young life, surely they’re entitled to let off some steam, right?

Some save assiduously for that purpose, but money doesn’t grow on trees when you’re 17 and 18 and with that in mind, five students from a secondary school in Offaly have decided to chance their arm by attempting to raise the money through a GoFundMe page.

The five teenagers in question – Eanna Lowry, Shane McCormack, Jamie Quinn, Leanne Hickey and John Mulraney – have already booked a holiday in Tenerife and now they’re looking to raise €1,000 to fund their exploits during their time away.

The group are fully aware that funding a teenage holiday in Tenerife is the last thing that many people will want to do, but some might be moved by memories of themselves at that age and decide to donate a quid or two. Weren’t we all young and mad for adventure at one point in our lives?

You can check out their appeal for funds on the GoFundMe page here; regardless of whether you end up supporting them or not, you have to applaud their initiative.
