Known for his crass sense of humour, comedian Frankie Boyle has raised a few eyebrows as he continues his hunger strike in support of a Guantánamo prisoner.

The outspoken Scot is on his fourth day of fasting in support Guantánamo Bay prisoner Shaker Aamer, the last British detainee who himself has been striking for 150 days.

Boyle is looking to raise awareness of Guantanamo prisoners on hunger strike. Officially 96 of the 166 prisoners at the detention centre were still being classified as hunger strikers, but the real figure is believed to be even higher with many being force-fed.

The comedian is keeping us up to date with his progress on Twitter and this morning pulled no punches on the stark reality of fasting.

Despite the food deprevation and seriousness of the issue, he still hasn’t lost his unique sense of humour. As bad as things are for him at the moment, he still took time out yesterday to take pity on Liam Gallgher after further paternity revelations in the papers in recent days.
