From cooking sausages, to knowing Pinot Grigio never played for Milan: 7 ways to impress your lover this Valentine’s Day

He played for Juventus, obviously

JOE

It’s that time of the year again… a time when the majority of Irish men turn into love struck idiots for a single day.

Yes, the first home game of the Six Nations really does take hold of us in an indescribable way.

Sorry, did you think we were talking about something else.

oops

If you’re planning on enjoying the afternoon’s sport, then take a little bit of advice from JOE: ace the Valentine’s day morning.

Because if you mess up, chances are you’ll be in the doghouse, with virtually no chance of a romantic rugby afternoon..

So here’s what you need to do to have the perfect Valentine’s day.

1. Make Breakfast in Bed

Get the day off to a great start by cooking your better half breakfast. She’ll love it and you’ll get to graze while you cook.

2. Don’t forget the basics – card, flowers and chocolates

Flowers, cards and chocolates are to Valentine’s Day what Paul O’Connell, Tommy Bowe and Robbie Henshaw are to Ireland’s chances against France.

You need them, they will help you win and without them your day will be ten times harder.

3. Ensure your place is tidy

Getting your house in order before Valentine’s day will mean two things: 1) Neither you, nor your better half will be stressed out by an untidy gaff, and, 2) You won’t be watching the rugby in the afternoon over the sound of passive aggressive hoovering.

4. Have your evening plans made (for after the final whistle)

Picture this: the match is over, both of you are happy and then, it suddenly dawns on you that you’ve not booked a table and will be spending ANOTHER Valentine’s Day in McDonald’s.

We all love Big Macs, but that’s just not on. Book your plans wellllllll in advance to avoid disappointment.

5. Bring them a romantic treat

A nice little treat like strawberries and cream is the perfect brunch on Valentine’s Day. It’s also perfect if you want to have some fun with your food, if you know what we mean.

Centra has everything you’ll need for this saucy little treat.

6. Catch up on all your “our shows”

Nothing brings JOE and his missus together like a good Netflix binge. So wind down from your strawberry and cream ‘session’ with some lovely Centra snacks and the shows you always enjoy together.
