Audi

Audi have given the A6 family (A6 quattro, A6 Avant, S6, S6 Avant and RS 6 sport) a comprehensive update with new engines, transmissions and headlights, plus a new infotainment system. Aesthetically, Audi have made changes to the car’s single frame grille, headlights, air inlets, bumpers, side sills, rear lights and tailpipes.

Audi A6

The engine lineup for the new A6 and A6 Avant includes three TFSI units with output ranging between 190 hp and 333 hp and five TDI units ranging from 150 hp to 326 hp. Delivery of the new Audi A6 family will begin in Q4/2014 and Irish pricing will be confirmed later this month.

Ford

Good news for Ford fans, as the all-new Ford Mondeo is now available to order in Irish dealerships nationwide. In Ireland, the all-new Ford Mondeo will be available in two series initially, Zetec and Titanium, and prices will start from €28,995. Body styles will include five-door and a wagon variant.

All-New Ford Mondeo Pricing Announced; Petrol, Diesel and First

Coming in 2015, the range will be extended to include an All-Wheel-Drive diesel variant, as well as a new hybrid electric vehicle version. Now that should be interesting… The all-new Mondeo will arrive in Ford Dealerships in Ireland in late November.

Opel

Opel’s ADAM family is now ever bigger as the German automaker has introduced an “adventure-loving open-air car”, known as the ADAM ROCKS. Arriving in Ireland in October, the ADAM ROCKS features an electrically folding swing top canvas roof, increased height and distinctive body cladding to give it a more ‘off-road/masculine’ look and will start at €18,995.

JOE was recently invited over to the official European launch of the ADAM ROCKS in Riga, Latvia, earlier this week so make sure to keep an eye out for our trip review over the coming days.

In more Opel news, the company has announced a brand-spanking new car called the Opel Karl. In a compact package of 3.68 metres, the Karl will feature five doors, up to five seats and, according to Opel, “offer the best of Opel virtues”. Karl is expected to hit Irish dealerships in Summer 2015 and in case you’re wondering about the name, it pays homage to one of Adam Opel’s sons. Ah bless…

Mazda

Last week we filled you in on Mazda’s all-new MX-5 (find out more here), but this week we’ve found out that Mazda Ireland has confirmed a 3 year partnership of TEDxDublin, which will see the brand sponsor the influential one day conference over the next 3 years. We’re big fans of the TEDx Talks here in the office, and you can find out more about the Dublin event which takes place tomorrow, September 13, over here.

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Benz has finally taken the covers off their much-vaunted AMG GT, better known as the successor to their SLS. The 4-litre twin-turbo V8 GT, with its front-mounted engine, rear wheel drive train and lightweight aluminium body, is being produced in a powerful 530bhp GTS version initially. This will be followed soon afterwards in a more refined 456bhp version. Both will be available to Irish buyers from mid-2015, with the GTS version being first to arrive in May to be followed two months later by the GT version.

Mercedes-AMG GT (C 190) 2014

Though price will only be quoted at time of ordering, it is expected to arrive on the market here at just under €200,000 for the GT version. Sure that’s pocket change. We’ll have two please…

Toyota

In motoring technology news, Toyota has announced a new type of ‘urban mobility’ based on ultra-compact electric vehicles called the Toyota i-Road, which are connected to the public transport network. They’re currently rolling out the service in Grenoble, France and there’s already a mass buzz around the funky looking motors. ŠKODA

ŠKODA Ireland has announced that the new Fabia model will go on sale in early January in showrooms nationwide. The model, the third-generation of the Fabia, will make its public debut at the Paris Motor Show in October. Prices are yet to be announced but are expected to be between €14,500 and €16,495.

In more ŠKODA news, ŠKODA’s new Citigo Monte Carlo has arrived on Irish shores. With prices starting from €12,995 the car is now available to order in ŠKODA dealerships nationwide.
