Here’s a look at the stunning S1 and the S1 Sportback, the new flagship models in the compact A1 model line…
Back in the ‘80s the Audi S1 garnered a legendary reputation – it was the car that would see the brand dominate the World Rally Championship in its day.
Now the S1 is coming back, but this time as a road-going version, which will be priced on the road in Ireland at €36,970 for the S1 and €37,570 for the S1 Sportback. You’ll find both cars in the gallery above; the red car is the S1, while the yellow is the S1 Sportback.
The Audi S1 and the S1 Sportback constitute the new flagship models in the compact A1 model line, adding an entry-level version to the Audi S model portfolio.
The S1’s 2.0 TFSI fitted with a turbocharger develops 231hp and produces up to 370 Nm of torque. The two-litre engine accelerates the Audi S1 and the S1 Sportback from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.8 and 5.9 seconds respectively.
The top speed for both motors stands at 250 km/h. On average the sporty, sonorous TFSI consumes just 7.0 or 7.1 litres of fuel per 100 kilometres (162 and 166 grams CO2 per kilometre respectively).
