Are you driving around in the brand new Peugeot 308? Well luckily for you, you’re currently driving 2014’s Car of the Year.

That’s right, the all-new Peugeot 308, which is a great looking motor in fairness, beat some stiff competition in the form of the BMW i3, the Tesla Model S and Ireland’s Car of the Year 2014, the Citroen C4 Picasso, in order to be named Car of the Year 2014.

The new 308 was awarded the title by a jury of 58 journalists, representing 22 European countries. The major announcement was made on the eve of the 84th Geneva Motor Show, which opens its door to the world press tomorrow and to regular punters from March 6.

A total of 30 new models from American, Korean, European and Japanese manufacturers, which went on sale in Europe during 2013, were eligible for the Car of the Year 2014 award.

The jury has just now delivered its verdict on the seven finalist models, pre-selected in December and the final votes were: Peugeot 308 – 307 points; BMW i3 – 223; Tesla Model S – 216; Citroën C4 Picasso – 182; Mazda3 – 180; Skoda Octavia – 172; and Mercedes-Benz S-Class – 170.

So there you have it. You can check out pics of the new 308 in the gallery above or for more technical information you can check out Peugeot.ie.
