Whatever the occasion, wearing a very slick suit will always make you look like the man with the plan

Whatever the occasion, wearing a suit will always make you look like the man with the plan

When you need to go formal, or just make a big first impression, then you can’t beat a quality suit. Whether you want to pull off the Don Draper look or simply make sure that you don’t look too casual, a suit is always going to make you look like you’re in control of the situation.

Our mates at Jacamo have the solution for men of all shapes and sizes who want to up their game on the style front, so here are our picks to get you, as Barney Stinson himself would say, suited up.

Brook Taverner Avelino Suit Jacket
Brook Taverner have been making suits for over 100 years, so i goes without saying that they know what they’re up to when it comes to putting an outfit together. This blazer is a wool blend, and comes in a variety of colours including navy (which is a good colour for us Irish men) and charcoal, a classic shade. €252.50

Brook Taverner Avelino Suit Pants
It’s always a good idea to wear trousers if you want to suit up well (and apparently it’s the law, or something) so why not stick with the same guys who made the jacket we picked out, so that the shade you choose will match perfectly. Again, stick to navy or charcoal. €112.50

Daniel Grahame plain collar shirt
A classic, crisp and clean white shirt is a vital ingredient in any man’s wardrobe, especially if you want to look dapper. It’s easy to match to almost any colour of suit, and it will make your tie really pop too. €34.99

Kensington Tie
A nice shade of red, this tie will work perfectly with a navy suit, but is also available in a few other colours. It won’t look bad with a gray suit either, but we’d recommend going for a darker colour like navy, which will look very well. €20.99

Handkerchief
One sure fire way to look like Don Draper is to stick a white pocket square on your grey suit, instant cool. €13.99

Belt
A good leather belt is not just great for wearing with a suit, but it will also be perfect for wearing with jeans or a pair of chinos too. Again, the brown will work well with a few different colours of suit, but if you’re going to go for black, stick with a black belt. €13.99

Barker Brogue shoe
Matching the shoes to the belt is tricky business; you want to try and get the same shade between the two without too much difference. We’ve gone for brown on both fronts, as it will work well with grey and navy, but you should go black with a charcoal suit on both belt and shoes, it will look better. These brogues are incredibly slick, and the pattern will catch the eye in the right way. €174.99
