Gallery: Swiss timing never comes in second place

Punctuality is an admirable quality, while being late all the time makes you look bad. Get a Swatch and sort it out

Tick tock, time to get yourself a clock…on your arm. Many people call this a watch, and recently JOE has been having a look at what timepiece we will adorn our wrist with in the future.

We’ve always been big fans of Swatch, and their more quirky pieces, but their latest Irony Chrono Collection has a selection of classically simple pieces that will suit any occasion. If you ask us, every man should have a selection of watches to choose from so that you’re not caught wearing you retro ’80s piece to a ’90s theme party (how embarrassing, are we right?) and you’re wearing the right fancy watch to your next business meeting. Besides, James Bond always had a good selection of watches, and while some of them had some pretty cool gadgets, most of them just looked darn good.

A very classic look that is relaxed and perfect for a weekend watch. The black leather strap has some nice detail with the red stitching, while the brushed stainless steel on the case and bezel give it that bit of weight. While it might well be your second watch, it won’t cost an arm and a leg either, while still looking great. Swatch specialise in that.

Noho Time
A bit more of an understated piece this, but that’s what we really like about it. Blacked out except for the gold detailing, this will catch the eye for the right reasons thanks to it having that pretty unique look. Definitely influenced by the simple styling of fellow iconic Swiss brands like Breguet, Omega and Longines.

It’s not often that you see an entirely grey watch (as opposed to silver) but the gun metal shade of this piece definitely looks well with the black and white detail and numerals at 4, 8 & 12. We kind of feel like we might be a spy in this watch, it would match our PPK nicely.

The blue leather strap here makes this piece stand out, but the white and red accents along the face of the watch give it a real splash of colour and individual touch, as we’ve come to expect from Swatch. Again, this has a nice simple styling but with a chronograph, tachometer and date dial, it ticks all the boxes of similar pieces that would cost you a great deal more.
