From Jared Leto to Chris Hemsworth, there was plenty of style on display last night

We’ve seen some interesting style at awards ceremonies recently, and while no one was wearing a Lionel Messi-style red suit, there were plenty of nominees and winners who were there in style last night.

Best Supporting Actor winner Jared Leto’s white tux managed to still capture that bit of rockstar in him, mainly thanks to that bright red bow tie and the long hair we think, but he certainly wasn’t alone in choosing the white jacket. His co-star Matthew McConaughey, who also won last night for his role in Dallas Buyers Club joined him, adding an extra layer underneath to avoid looking too much like an old school waiter at a hotel.

Pharrell, as always, was adventurous, and while we’re still not decided on whether or not we actually like this, at least it’s a decent idea on how to cool down the next time we need to wear a tux to the beach.

When it comes to adding a bit of colour to the event, both Chris Hemsworth and Kevin Spacey decided to go for something else apart from plain black or white, bringing some plum and midnight blue to proceedings. Spacey’s effort is our favourite, we must admit, but we’re terribly partial to him at the moment with our House of Cards addiction.

As usual, and as any dedicated JOE style reader will know, we have somewhat of a mancrush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and he consistently gets it right sartorially, which was the case last night.

When it comes to sticking to classic looks, both Leonardo DiCaprio and Ethan Hawke didn’t stray too far from the norm, but they added a few little details that made the whole outfit stand out. Hawke’s slim lapels are the difference maker here, making sure he gets a place in our list. We’re sure he’d be thrilled. On the other end of the spectrum our own Michael Fassbender’s wide lapels earn him a spot, as does his ginger beard. We’ve got one, and we think everyone should too.
