Mazda’s MX-5 is universally regarded as one of the best sporty two-seater roadsters ever to be produced and the latest generation of the car is finally here.

Mazda revealed the all-new Mazda MX-5 at an exclusive event in Barcelona late last night and simultaneously around the world at two similar events in Japan and the U.S, which means we can finally drool over the latest offering from the Japanese automaker.

The fourth-generation model, which features Mazda’s KODO – ‘Soul of Motion’ design philosophy, received a very warm reception from the journos in attendance.

The all-new MX-5 will come with SKYACTIV Technology, including specially tuned SKYACTIV-G petrol engines and the first rear-wheel drive version of the SKYACTIV-Chassis. Weighing 100kg less than the outgoing model and with the lowest-ever centre of gravity of any MX-5, the latest generation is shaping up to be one epic little motor. It also helps that it’s quite easy on the eye.

The latest generation of the Mx-5 will go on sale in Europe in 2015. No word on pricing as of yet, but the outgoing generation cost €32,995 so it will be interesting to see if there will be much of a price difference.
