GALLERY: These 19 images across Ireland will make you want to stay here this summer

Tony Cuddihy

It’s around this time of the year that a lot of people start thinking about how they’ll be spending their summer holidays.

These images show that staying in Ireland might not be such a bad idea, especially if you’re an outdoors type.

Every corner of the country is represented here, from Learmount Forest in Derry to the Skelligs off the coast of County Kerry.

Meath – Newgrange – Robert Ardill

East Coast of Ireland: Meath: Newgrange. This is a view of Newgrange taken on the 3rd December 2009 at 9:00am. At this time the full moon rises before the sun sets and sets after the sun has risen - so that hunters have light for 24 hours, which is why the moon is called the Hunters' Moon. As an added bonus, the moonset was just over Newgrange, the largest and most famous Megalithic burial tomb in Ireland. In the foreground to the left can be seen a small burial tomb.
