That person was Selena Gomez, who has practically taken over the social networking site, increasing her number of followers to a whopping 103 million in 2016.
And that despite recently taking a 90-day break from social media and describing Instagram as “hell”.
None of that affected her popularity on the site, however, because as well as being the most followed person on Instagram, she also had eight of the top 10 most liked Instagram photos in the last year, according to Instagram’s Year In Entertainment statistics.
Cristiano Ronaldo had the other two top 10 entries (you can see the top 10 in order below), so if this doesn’t serve as a wake-up call to other celebrities to up their social media game in 2017, we don’t know what will.
