Gallery: What Car? Magazine names Nissan Qashqai its Car of the Year for 2014
The New Year is already off to a great start for Nissan as the lads at What Car? Magazine have named the all-new Qashqai their Car of the Year for 2014.
The results from the 37th annual What Car? Awards are in and the Nissan Qashqai has come away with the top gong, which is actually the first time that Nissan has ever won What Car?’s ‘Car of the Year’ award.
The small SUV, which is currently built over in Nissan’s manufacturing plant in Sunderland, was also named ‘Best Small SUV of the Year’.
What Car? editor-in-chief Chas Hallett said: “The all-new Nissan Qashqai brings excellence and polish to a class of cars that is brimming with talent and tempting buys. The Qashqai delivers low costs and first-class levels of comfort, refinement, space and safety.”
Nissan Ireland’s head of Marketing, Jeanne McGann said, “It’s fantastic news that the new Qashqai has received such an accolade. The previous version has been such a success, it was hard to see how it could be improved upon but with its bold new design, an increase in the overall size, a suite of new technologies, refined engine technology delivering lower emissions and even greater fuel efficiency, we are confident that it really and truly is an unbeatable package.
"The New Qashqai will be available at Nissan dealerships across the country from 22nd January 2014 – interest in the car has been exceptional and the challenge for us will be matching supply with demand”.
JOE’s Oisín Collins will be heading out to Sunderland later in the month for a good look and a test drive of the all-new Qashqai, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for that.
