JOE was invited to head along to the RDS on Thursday, July 3, for an exclusive preview of the all-new Audi TT. Here’s a look at how we got on…

Before the big unveil we managed to have a few words with Christian Gussen, Managing Director of Audi Ireland, who told us about the different specs we can expect to see on the third generation of TT here in Ireland, along with the “cool” new virtual cockpit which just has to be seen to be believed.

Mr. Gussen also told us that he expects the most popular engine choice in Ireland will be the 2.0 TDI, which is equipped with a manual gearbox and front-wheel drive. The new TT can accelerate from 0 to 100kph in 7.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 234kph. It will also achieve up to 4.2L/100kms (combined), which translates into CO2 emissions of 110 g/km.

There were plenty of very slick features on the all-new TT that we absolutely loved including the fuel tank cap which takes its design from the first generation of TT. Once you open the outer flap you simply insert the fuel nozzle straight into the tank without having to remove an inner cap, which was something that the TT designers took from the R8. It’s only a small feature, but it helps to give the car a nice ‘racing feel’.

Also taken from the R8 is the positioning of the iconic four ring Audi badge on the bonnet of the all-new TT instead of being on the grille, like the past two generations. See below…

Last, but by no means least, we thought the new TT’s interior buttons were extremely well thought out. The air control buttons sit in the middle of the vents and while they’re just a small feature, it clears up the cockpit and makes the interior look incredibly neat. Frankly, we were surprised that we have never seen anything like it before…

Audi Ireland really did put on a top-class show and we simply can’t wait to get a drive in the all-new TT. It’s an absolutely stunning car, so we can only assume that the drive is just as good. We eagerly await to see…
