Some people have all the luck.
With Christmas around the corner, a fair few of us might be expecting some scratch cards from the mammies, aunties and grannies out there.
And we expect that demand for the scratchers will shoot up after today’s news.
A Connemara man has pocketed no less than €20,000 after winning the top prize of on the €2 Diamond Deluxe Doubler. To make the win even more special, the card was a gift from his mammy! D’awww.
The card was bought in Tomas Breathnach Teo Eurospar in Carraroe.
The man, who has remained anonymous, is promising his mother an “extra special Christmas gift” after his big win. We think that’s only fair.
“I didn’t scratch the card for a few days it was in the car, but when I did I couldn’t believe it when I saw I had won €20,000. What a lovely amount to win just on time for Christmas,” the winner said.
“My mother occasionally buys me a scratch card and she is thrilled that her present has landed me this amount! This will certainly be a Christmas to remember.”
