Get rid of these words from your dating app profile if you want any chance of finding someone

Rory Cashin

When it comes to finding the one – or even the one for right now – we can all use a little help.

The dating scene these dates is an absolute mine-field, in the middle of a long, bloody and brutal war, and it is every man and woman for themselves.

Thankfully, your pals at JOE are here to help you out – via the folks at Illicit Encounters – with a study of over 400,000 profiles on their website, and tallied up the numbers as to which words were most likely to get a positive and negative response from the opposite sex (there’s no confirmation on whether same sex encounters have the same results).

So if you’re a man, looking for a woman on your dating app, the top three words you SHOULD be using to describe yourself are HONEST, INTELLIGENT and CONFIDENT. However, the three words you SHOULD NOT have anywhere near your dating app profile are SHY, HAPPY and CURVY. Less than 0.1% of women enjoy men who describe themselves as curvy, in case you were wondering.

On the flip side, if you’re a woman looking for a man on the dating apps, the top three self-describers you SHOULD use are SEXY, HONEST and CONFIDENT. And the ones you definitely SHOULD NOT be using on yourself are SHY, TRUSTWORTHY and HAPPY. So men like it when women are honest, but not trustworthy? Huh. That… that’s a thinker.

However, the entire thing is based on a study performed by a website that helps married folk set up infidelity, so unless their telling their partners they’re heading out to take part in an affair, just where the honesty part comes into it is up for debate.
