It looks like Galway is the place to be next weekend if you’re a gin fan.

Over the last few years, gin has seen an incredible revolution. New variations on the classic drink have been cropping up by the new time, and Irish companies like Dingle Distillery and Drunshambo Gunpowder Irish Gin are ranked amongst the best in the world.

Ahead of World Gin Day 2019 (you’d better believe that’s a thing) on Saturday, 8 June, there’s only one place you’re going to want to be. Judging by the fact Galway is set for a four-day with The Latin Quarter Gin Fest, the good news for gin fans just keeps coming.

If it’s good enough for Ryan Reynolds, it’s good enough for us.

What to expect at Gin Fest 2019

Kicking off on Thursday, 6 June, you can look forward to four fantastic days of master classes, tastings, gin cruises, new gin launches, and so much more! Events will be running on into the night as well, with some of Galway city’s best bars and restaurant keeping the party going until Sunday, 9 June.

On the Saturday (World Gin Day), ‘The Gin Village’ will be making a return in The Quays Bar from 5-7pm. As well as a live DJ, there will be plenty of pop up gin bars for you to stroll through and sample a range of G&Ts.

While of course there will be a lot of focus on Irish gin, distilleries from all over the world will be setting up shop just waiting for you to test out their stuff. Many of the events are totally free to attend, and you’ll have the chance to learn all about how your favourite spirit is made.

It’s also a great chance to explore The Latin Quarter, which boasts many of Galway’s best bars and restaurants. No better way to appreciate the cultural heart of the city than by taking it all in with an ice-cold G&T in hand!

There’s plenty to look forward to over the weekend, and email [email protected] if you’d like to hear more. For regular updates, follow the Latin Quarter Galway Facebook and use the hashtag #LQGinFest to make everyone else jealous.
