Great news! Coppers is no longer for sale

Carl Kinsella

Great news for anyone who loves hearing Wagon Wheel at 3am.

Copper Face Jacks, lovingly known as Coppers across Ireland, is an iconic landmark of Dublin life.

In March of this year, it was reported that the Harcourt Street nightclub would be put up for sale by private treaty for an expected price of around €40 million.

The news certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons for revellers nationwide, as there was no guarantee that the three-story club would continue to exist in its current, beloved form once it was taken over.

However, in a memo issued to all staff at the Jackson Court Hotel by owners Cathal and Paula Jackson, it was confirmed that Coppers is no longer for sale.

The memo confirmed that Cathal Jackson, who had been dealing with health issues, had made a recovery and intended to resume active involvement in the running of the business.

“As a result,” the memo noted, “he has formally withdrawn the property from sale.”

The memo also noted that several approaches were made by parties interested in buying the hotel and its nightclub.

Coppers to celebrate, anyone?
