Vegan sausages

Nobody tell Piers Morgan.

UK bakery Greggs came in for some serious controversy last year when they started selling vegan sausage rolls, but there’s no doubt that lots of people out there are always looking for ways they can consume less meat.

Aldi has announced that they’ll be adding vegan sausages to their shelves in all 137 Aldi stores nationwide, starting today (Tuesday 28 May).

The flavours on offer include Red Pepper & Butternut Squash Sausages (€2.49), made with yellow spilt peas, red pepper, roast butternut squash and parsley, or Masala Roast Cauliflower Sausages (€2.49), made with red onion, brown rice and yellow split peas.

Both products are plant-based and gluten-free.

They also clock in at a pretty decent count of 49 calories per sausage.

We’re undeniably already pretty hungry looking at them.

Whether or not we can tell the difference remains to be seen.
