Head to JOE: Student style

JOE

The bell has rung and school is in, so it’s time to dress for success…and attend a few classes we suppose

It’s that time of year when classes start back, and walking around in a pair of shorts and a vest after the lovely summer we had isn’t going to cut it.

If it’s your first year too, it’s most likely the first time that you’re going to get to go to class and dress yourself, seeing as you won’t have to wear a uniform or whatever it is that your mother would have picked out for you in primary school.

So instead, why not wear what we pick out for you? We’re not your mother though, you have to make your own lunches.

Chinos: It’s autumn so we can go for a bit more of a muted tone on the trousers with these slim fit chinos from Pull & Bear. They’re also decent value at just €29.99.

Shirt: We like a good Oxford cotton shirt, and Hackett do a huge range of casual gear (much more than we thought, to be honest) which is well made and slim fit, perfect for the fancy student.

Desert boots Office stock these pretty slick desert boots, and they’re also on sale at the minute (for about €35 or so), so you can’t say we don’t look after your pocket. The blue trim will also work nicely with the trousers, which shows that you put a bit of planning into this whole thing.

Coffee travel mug: Buying coffee is expensive, especially if you need it to kickstart your brain every morning. Why not brew your own at home and bring in this sharp looking travel mug which also contains a very realistic message on it about what you might really be drinking in there.

Wallet: Minimal is always the way forward in our opinion, and this Eton wallet from Tommy Hilfiger fits that bill nicely.

The man bag: It’s a vital part of college life. It holds your pesto, your book on philosophy and your gluten-free granola bar (also known as the emergency kit), and this Fred Perry one from Arnotts is a pretty nice one.

Scarf: Of course, wearing a scarf at all times is a sign that you’re studying hard in the cold, cold library. It’s also a well known fact that knowledge escapes out your neck if you don’t cover it up. Tommy Hilfiger have a decent range, and while this one is a little bit Harry Potter, we still like it.
