Enjoy it while you still can.
People will talk about the Irish Summer Of 2018 for years to come.
It will be passed down from generation to generation, great-great-great-grandparents regaling the family about the month when the entire country felt like it was about to spontaneously combust due to the unending heat.
The extended family will nod and smile and dismiss it as Granny telling one of her crazy stories again, but we'll all know better, won't we?
Either that, or global warming will kick in properly and this will just be the norm for Ireland from now on, going from heat blasts in the summer to country-stopping snow blizzards in the winter, caught up in an endless loop of extreme weather.

Anyways, it does look like the current heatwave - along with the current drought, UV and pollen warnings - will finally be coming to an end, and we might have an exact date, too.
Midland Weather Channel made the following announcement:
"The latest charts continue to indicate that we will experience a break in the current heatwave conditions on the 15/16th of July. Temperatures will plummet compared to what we have become accustomed to over the past number of weeks. Highest values in many areas will fall by as much as 6-8 degrees Celsius.
"Rainfall also looks set to feature in the weather forecast over the weekend with some rain likely to spread from the northwest by Sunday evening and possibly into Monday. The early days of next week look showery, however details remain unclear due to the time distance in the forecast.
"For now the heatwave continues, with intensifying drought conditions throughout the course of this week, however the end may finally be in sight, or certainly a blip..."
So that is Sunday 15 July or Monday 16 July before it all comes to an end.
