The boom is back.
Hens and stags are now spending an average of €300 on their last night of freedom which is almost twice the spend on two years ago.
The groom and bride are taking longer breaks with their friends and have begun to book fancier hotels as spending for the party increases.
The summer months of July and August are among the busiest for stag and hen parties to organise their nights out and according to HenandStagSligo.ie, people are upgrading their packages, spending more on activities and typically booking two nights away.
While most spend on average €140 to €160 on the hen or stag party packages, they then go on to spend between €100 and €200 on other items such as drink and transport and other party accessories like hair, makeup and clothes for the weekend away.
Fergal Quinn, co-founder of HenandStagSligo said: “Two years ago, most people were going for the basic hen or stag party packages which did not include an activity and was for one night only. This was typically costing them between €80 and €100 and they might spend another €50 on the night itself.”
Quinn added that: “We have seen this since the beginning of the year but even more so this summer as June, July and August would be three of the busiest months for people holding their hen and stag parties.
“Also, hen and stag parties have changed in recent years as the age profile is generally older and people are looking for activities to do when booking their stag or hen party packages.”
