We all have that little nickname for our loved ones and now we can bring you the nation’s favourite five.

This morning, The Ian Dempsey Breakfast Show on Today FM asked the people of Ireland if they have a pet name for their partners and we can now reveal that the most common terms of affection across the nation are… “Babes” and “Princess!”

Now, here at JOE HQ, we can’t remember the last time we were called “Princess”, but who are we to argue with a survey? We’re a little tired of being addressed as “Adonis” and “Model” so we’re heartened that there is an official list which our loved ones can now choose from when addressing us.

The Top 5 in full is:

1. Babes

2. Princess

3. Puddin’

4. Honeybunny

5. Queen

We can only assume number five is reserved for loved ones who bear an uncanny resemblance to Freddie Mercury. Like JOE’s Aunt Attracta.

It should also be pointed out that not everybody responds well to being called “Babe”:

To be honest, if anyone ever called us “Honeybunny” or indeed “Puddin'”, they might be met with the same reaction as our Pamela had in the video above. You’ve been warned.
