Here’s where Ireland ranks on the list of the happiest countries in the world

Laura Holland

The happiest country in the world is Norway, according to the World Happiness Report, which was released this morning.

It surveys countries based on income, social support, healthy life expectancy, social freedom, generosity, and absence of corruption.

Norway topped the polls, followed by last year’s number one country Denmark. Rounding off the top five are Iceland, Switzerland and Finland.

The top ten also includes the Netherlands, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and Sweden.

Ireland didn’t fare too badly overall placing in 15th position.

The report states that it judges the well-being of individuals on “good mental states, including all of the various evaluations, positive and negative, that people make of their lives and the affective reactions of people to their experiences”.
