Brexit has certainly set the cat amongst the pigeons with all single-passport Britons set to lose their freedom to work and travel in the other EU nations.
This realisation has led to an unprecedented increase in demand for Irish passports as them across the water try to avoid losing the perks that come with being a citizen of the European Union.
A survey conducted by UK polling agency YouGov, published yesterday, revealed that 49% of Brits said that they would “consider” moving to Ireland. This meant that Ireland ranked 8th on the list of UK citizens’ preferred emigration destinations.
Ireland finished behind Canada (67%), New Zealand (64%), Sweden (52%), Netherlands (51%), Switzerland (51%), Italy (50%) and the USA (50%).
Those Brits who will miss EU freedom of movement will miss it far more for Western Europe than for Eastern Europe. Only 19% of Brits would consider living and/or working in Poland, for example, compared to 42% for Germany https://t.co/QZlCf1jnVy pic.twitter.com/g1nkwTdPrW

Funnily enough, Ireland finished one spot ahead of Denmark. So at least we beat them at something this week. The country that got the worst response was Egypt, where just 7% of Brits said they’d be happy to live.
