Here’s what the type of jeans you wear says about you

JOE

Brought to you by Arnotts.

It’s in your jeans.

They’ve been around since the time of cowboys and they’re not going anywhere. Jeans are a staple in literally everyone’s wardrobe.

They’re sturdy, reliable and they go with everything. Another reason for their ubiquity is the variety of styles.

This single item of clothing can run the gamut of styles and tastes. From the 15-25 March, Arnotts are running their “It’s in your jeans campaign” where you’ll be able to find the perfect pair for you and get them customised at their pop up tailor station.

To celebrate the event, we thought we’d give you examples of different types of jeans and what they say about the person who wears them.

Very Skinny

You’re a cool guy. In fact, you’re so cool, you’re willing to forsake comfort in order to achieve your look.

Your Spotify is a who’s who of current popular music. Some Justin Timberlake along with a healthy dollop of 30 Seconds to Mars. You’re up to date when it comes to your fashion and music.

“If you’re gonna wear jeans that skinny, might as well do away with socks while you’re at it,” is what you say to yourself every morning as you struggle desperately to fit your calf through the narrow denim cylinder of your trouser leg.

You’re willing to sacrifice comfort in an attempt to achieve your look.

Slim

You’re a more sensible type of chap. You know what you like. And what you like is to look as sensible as you feel while feeling sensibly comfortable. These lads are in the Goldilocks zone of jean wear, not too tight, not too loose.

Stylish but with enough room for activities, like going to festivals and dancing around to indie music.

You think Radiohead are only getting better with age.

Flares

These bad boys had their heyday in the 70s but we think they’re due a comeback. If nothing else the next time you have a James Bond-themed party to attend, stick these on and go as Roger Moore.

If you jumped out of a plane without a parachute, these jeans would probably see you down to the ground safely.

Jorts

If you’re someone who likes to summer in northern Italy, then normal length jeans are just going to be too restrictive. Jean shorts are the happy medium.

Open air discos that bang out 80s classics are your hangout of choice.

Regular

Regular old, straight legged jeans. They’ve done the job for Dads the world over. You really are at the pinnacle of manhood. You’re not out to please anyone other than yourself.

Black jeans

A good rule of thumb when it comes to your dress style is, look at what Ryan Gosling does and try to copy it. Can’t go wrong with a pair of black jeans. You can dress them up with a shirt and tie, or dress them down with a t-shirt and runners.

A black jean wearer is someone who knows exactly who they are and what they want. They like any and all types of music so long as it’s good. Less of a festival goer and more into intimate gigs with unsigned artists.

Jeans with loads of rips and patches on them

The wild card of the group. Someone who builds their whole outfit around their jeans.

Maybe likes rap, maybe likes rock, or maybe some sort of hybrid. In the same that their jeans are kind of a hybrid of wearing clothes and being naked.

There are a couple of different torn jeans looks you can go for. There’s the heavily designed pair, with intentional rips and patches. Or there’s the post Hulk transformation look. You don’t remember how your jeans ripped and frankly, you don’t have time to worry about such things.

As part of their “It’s in your Jeans” campaign, Arnotts now have an in-store personalization station from 15-25 March. Combine style and authenticity for that perfect pair of denim with embroidery, monogrammed initials or preppy patches. Pop in-store this month to create your very own customisation with this fun and unique event.
