Anybody know the Russian for “feckin’ hell that was an unbelievably close call!?”

It’s tough stopping a car that weighs 1.5 tonnes in an emergency situation, so you can imagine what it’s like trying to stop a fully loaded HGV weighing 36 tonnes.

The guys over at Volvo’s truck and heavy-goods division have been working hard to create an emergency braking system that will stop a fully loaded HGV in only a few feet and you can check out their amazing test footage by clicking here.

Testing it out in the safety of a practice track is one thing though, but what about when it comes to applying the brakes in real life? This Russian dashcam reveals exactly just how good these brilliant brakes actually are.
