In case you missed it, late-night talk-show host Bill Maher found himself in some very hot water when he used a racial slur live on his show for the sake of an off-the-cuff joke.
He had since apologised for the joke, but for the sake of opening up a dialogue on the matter, Maher invited both Ice Cube and political correspondent Symone Sanders on his show to discuss the issue.
The rapper/actor didn't take long to get into it, telling Maher that he can sometimes come across as "a bit of a red-neck", informing him the those words still feel like a knife being used to inflict pain.
Cube was also there to celebrate the anniversary re-release of his iconic album Death Certificate, which was produced and released in the midst of the racism-sparked L.A. riots, and when Maher asked how he felt America has moved on since then, Cube responded that sometimes it feels like "The only thing that has changed is the calendar."
Similarly, politico Sanders brings up police brutality against the black community, and the protesters in America who want to defend the racially-charged confederate monuments around the country. It feels like Sanders puts it best when she says simply "We still have a lot of work to do."
