Ice T tweeting about the World Cup is already one of best things about the tournament

Wil Jones

Ok, it’s been a pretty good World Cup so far

It’s only been three days, and we’ve had an absolute classic between Spain and Portugal, Messi missing a penalty, and a lot of controversy in the France game.

And we’ve still got a lot more to come.

But one of our favourite things to happen so far, hasn’t been on the pitch. It hasn’t even been in Russia. It has been Ice-T’s tweets about the tournament.

Yes, Ice-T. The golden age rapper who had ’99 Problems’ long before Jay Z ever did, and has been spitting rhymes since 1981. In 1992, he terrified America with the notorious track ‘Cop Killer’, with his metal band Body Count. And he’s known to a whole new generation for playing a NYPD detective on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.

But he’s been letting his feelings known on the World Cup.

For instance:

Same, Ice. Same.

You should watch it more, Ice. Football is great.

To be fair, that one ruffled a few feathers.

Seriously though, next time you’re in this neck of the woods, hit us up. We’ll watch the first round of the Carabao Cup with you. That’s real football.
