Identity Thief: Brian O’Driscoll

If there's one person we could be for a day, it would definitely be all round Irish hero and legend Brian O'Driscoll

If there’s one person we could be for a day, it would definitely be all round Irish hero and legend Brian O’Driscoll

After his gala dinner this week, we cast our eye back on the life and times of the big man, Brian O’Driscoll and thought to ourselves, jaysus sure it wouldn’t be bad to be BOD, would it?

Firstly, an all-round rugby hero for Ireland who has always put his body, and specifically head on the line for the cause, he’s had more concussions than we care to remember or than he could possibly recall while in the line of duty.

As a result, he’s gotten some of the greatest tries in living memory, and dominated more games than it would be possible to list both for Leinster and for Ireland. His medal cabinet must be groaning under the weight of all his successes, including a Six Nations Grand Slam, four Triple Crowns, three Heineken Cups, as well as captaining the Lions. The lads over at RTE were able to compile the highest points of his Ireland career into this memorable video:

Secondly, he’s got a lovely wife, Amy Huberman. Apart from looking great all the time, Amy is a great follow on Twitter, where she shows she’s got a great sense of humour, and that she’s only lovely in general. She also gave birth to their daughter recently, so now BOD has it all, except sleep we imagine. Amy also gives out great healthy recipes on Twitter too.

Given that Leinster are sponsored by a nice swanky car company, O’Driscoll also drives a pretty slick car. Last we heard, he was rocking around in an Audi Q7 jeep, which would keep you nice and dry during a horrible steam-powered crap heap of a day like today.

As if all that wasn’t enough, he’s also got a brilliant nickname, BOD. While we’re obviously happy with our name being JOE, a great nickname makes you even cooler, and beyond slagging, which has to contribute to the overall greatness level that O’Driscoll has achieved.

Finally, being O’Driscoll gives you a certain level of cool which allows you to get away with a bit more than the average person. For instance, you can whip out a ridiculous quote like this and be considered a genius rather than a bad David Brent impersonator. If this had been Brendan Rodgers he’d have been fleeced for it!

We’re confident enough that those few reasons justify why exactly we’d like to be Brian O’Driscoll, at least for one day, although we might give all the rugby training and that stuff in the gym a miss, that looks a bit difficult.
