Australia Nudes

That’s one way to do it.

Kaylen Ward, an Instagram model now calling herself The Naked Philanthropist, has raised over AUS$500,000 by selling naked photos of herself to anybody who donates $10 dollars to the Australian bush fire relief effort.

Ward had taken to Twitter offering “personalised” photos of herself to anyone who donated to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service, Victorian Country Fire Service, Red Cross and certain koala hospitals across Australia.

The tweet in which she announced the deal quickly went viral (it’s now on 66.5k retweets and has over 200,000 likes), and she estimates that well over 50,000 people have now sent her proof of their donations.

Ward’s original Instagram account was deleted as a result of the arrangement, and the LA-based model says she has suffered harassment as a result of the offer.

Severe fires have ravaged Australia for the past several weeks as a result of record-breaking heat and drought. According to the Sydney Morning Herald, 25 people have lost their lives so far, and 6.3 million hectares of land have been burned, ravaging over 2,000 homes.

Prof Chris Dickman, an expert on Australian biodiversity at the University of Sydney, has concluded that almost half a billion animals have been displaced or killed by the fires.

His conclusion has been widely reported, though it is just an estimate, and the actual figure is unconfirmed.
