Interesting infographic reveals the most expensive counties in which to get married in Ireland

Irish weddings are a bloody expensive business

Conor Heneghan

Irish weddings are a bloody expensive business.

A lot of you are probably enjoying the hell out of the single life while you still can, but we would also safely assume that there are a lot of JOE readers that are recently married, are about to get married or are certainly thinking about it.

Or they’re being told it’s about time to do so by their mothers.

Those who belong in the ‘about to’ or ‘thinking about’ it categories will be interested in having a gawk at the infographic below, which includes loads of interesting data about getting married in Ireland, the costs involved and the most popular times that Irish couples tie the knot.

The infographic, which is based on the 2014 Irish Wedding Survey by mrs2be.ie, was put together by Glen Baker, who has plenty of experience of Irish weddings as lead singer of A Few Good Men (check them out here).

Amongst the nuggets included in the graphic below are:

  • The average cost of an Irish wedding – €21,135
  • The average cost of a wedding in June (most expensive month) – €22,220
  • The average cost of a wedding in January (least expensive month) – €19,780

The graphic also details the cost of an Irish wedding on a county-by-county basis, detailing that:

  • Wicklow is the most expensive county to get married at €22,280 on average, followed by Mayo and Kildare.
  • Louth is the least expensive county to get married at €19,820 on average, followed by Wexford and Cavan.
  • September is the most popular month for Irish weddings.

Better start saving lads.
