Irish players seemed uniquely unlucky on Saturday night’s Lotto draw

Rory Cashin

There is not winning, and then there is this.

Listen, we know how the Lotto works.

Well… we’re pretty sure we know how the Lotto works.

Pick numbers, your numbers come up, you win some money. The more of your numbers get picked, the more money you’re likely to win.

Seems pretty simple.

We know that, more weeks than not, the jackpot is going to go un-won, and that is exactly what happened on Saturday 20 October for the Irish lotto jackpot of €3.6 million.

Not winning the Lotto isn’t exactly news.

However, nobody won the main jackpot’s Match 5 + Bonus amount either, the second highest amount for the main draw also going un-won.

Fair enough.

But then on down to the €1 million jackpot for the Lotto Plus One. Anyone win that?

Nope. Nor did anyone win the Match 5 + Bonus amount for that draw.

On down again, to the €250,000 jackpot for the Lotto Plus Two draw. Surely someone won that?

Three for three, no major jackpots won. Same goes for the Match 5 + Bonus amount here, as the three biggest runner-up amounts also have no winners.

The biggest prize winners for the night are the 21 people who matched five numbers for the main jackpot, winning €1,569 each.

Not to be sniffed at, but here’s hoping Ireland is feeling a bit luckier next weekend.

In case you’re interested, here are the winning set of numbers:

Main Jackpot: 11, 22, 31, 36, 44, 46 – Bonus 42

Lotto Plus One: 6, 25, 28, 30, 31, 47 – Bonus 32

Lotto Plus Two: 7, 22, 25, 37, 38, 42 – Bonus 10
