Ireland’s 2014 Twitter review has been revealed with some interesting trends, topics and TV

What has Ireland been saying in 140 characters or less this year…

2014 has been a fantastic year for JOE because we continued to bring all of our class readers the latest news from the worlds of sport, entertainment and Irish affairs as well as welcoming a new brother with SportsJOE.ie.

We also finally managed to eat our weight in pizza, learn every line from The Van and reunite B*witched for one night only.

2014 was a memorable one with the names of Garth Brooks, Robin Williams, Conor McGregor, Brian O’Driscoll, Luis Suarez, Nidge, Robin Williams and Alan Shatter all featuring heavily.

That dinner party would be quite interesting.

So what was popular on this social media type jazz? Ellen DeGeneres’ Oscar selfie has become the most shared message ever on the platform, it has been retweeted 3m times as we type.

No guesses for which Irish TV ranked highest amongst audiences. Of course it was the dramatic showdown between Pauley and Siobhán in Love/Hate while the fantastic All Ireland Football semi-final between Kerry and Mayo took second place.

It seems that everyone was on their mobileson the 15th of March this year. Why you ask? Well JOE was responsible for a fair few of the 210,000  congratulatory tweets that were sent to the Irish rugby team after that famous win in Paris which saw Brian O’SDriscoll end a glittering career in the green jersey.

Here’s how 2014 looked on Twitter in Ireland.
