Ireland’s biggest festival for single people is returning soon

Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival

Know any single people that would be up for a trip?

If countless nights out, various blind dates and Tinder aren’t doing the trick, singletons of all ages will be happy to know that Ireland’s biggest singles festival – the Lisdoonvarna Matchmaking Festival – is returning very soon.

Taking place in the small village of Lisdoonvarna on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, the festival has become an institution in recent years.

Aside from the music and craic that’s taking place, there’s also something for those people that are looking to find a little bit of romance. Hell, with that many people about, you’re bound to lob the gob.

The month long Irish festival attracts people from all over the world and it’s over 160 years old – see, you don’t get that when it comes to online dating.

As stated on their official website: “There’s music and dancing in every bar from 11am in the morning to the wee hours of the night and those looking for love can meet Ireland’s only traditional matchmaker Willie Daly in his ‘office in the Matchmaker Bar. Legend has it if you touch his ‘lucky book’ with both hands, you’ll be married in six months.”

Christ, now that’s a piece of information that might have some people running a mile in the opposite direction.

This year, some 40,000 people will once more take their place at the festival when it kicks off on 31 August and there are events being spread out for six weekends of fun, party, music and romance.

The full lineup is here and even if you’re not looking for love, it’s bound to be some craic.

Do you – or any of your mates – fancy it?
