We don’t think there will be too many arguments with the winner.
Given how sunny it is in many parts of Ireland today, we’re guessing that 99 per cent (see what we did there?) of you reading this will probably have eaten an ice cream at some stage.
But, if you didn’t opt for a 99, what ice cream did you take out after reaching into the freezer?
If the tastes of our readers are concerned, it was likely to be an Iceberger.
Over 850 of you voted in the space of a few hours and over one in five of you voted the ice cream sandwich as your favourite out of a choice of 12 pretty decent options, in our opinion at least.
Twister put up a good fight, pulling in just under 17 per cent of the vote, while Brunch put in a good showing with just under 15 per cent of voters putting their weight behind an old favourite.
Not surprisingly, Magnum and Cornetto also fared well while at the other end of the scale, we were probably most surprised at the poor performance of Loop the Loop and Freaky Foot, with the latter commanding just over one per cent of the vote.
Another fine day is promised tomorrow and we reckon if we conducted this poll again tomorrow there may well be a different winner, but, for now, the Iceberger is the undisputed king of Irish ice creams.
A fine choice.
