Ireland’s top five surfing destinations along the Wild Atlantic Way have been revealed

That's an impressive list

Conor Heneghan

Something to bear in mind when you’re booking your holiers this summer.

Ireland has long been renowned as one of the world’s top surfing destinations, with the cream of the world’s surfers regularly visiting these shores to take on the best waves the Irish coast has to offer.

Indeed, surfing is just one of the reasons that the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ route has proved so popular in Ireland and leading surf travel provider Surfholidays.com have ranked what they believe to be the five best surf spots to visit along Ireland’s Atlantic coast.

The list was compiled over a fortnight and took into account factors such as surf breaks, cafés and amenities, nightlife, family friendly options, Surfschools in the area and the general ‘vibe’ of the surf community.

You can read a more in-depth exploration of why the top five destinations fought off pretty serious competition to make the list here, but below are the top five locations, with Antrim, Donegal, Sligo, Clare and Kerry all warranting a mention.

Who needs a foreign holiday when places like this are just on your doorstep?
