An Irish Franciscan nun has left a fortune of €10m in her will

The money was only resting in my account.

An Irish nun has left behind a fortune of over €10m in her will.

Veronica ‘Lal’ Kidney, known otherwise as Sister Francis of the Franciscan Missionary Sisters, of St. Joseph’s in Littlehampton, England left an estate valued at €10,187,524, according to the Irish Independent.

The Dublin-born nun died at her convent on 30 September, 2016.

Sister Francis was part of the Kidney family, who have several decades worth of success in the hotel-catering business through their ownership of the Lee Hotel group, which includes the Mespil Hotel, Dublin. Among her relatives were Robert, George and Naomi Kidney, all of whom were shareholders in the Jurys Hotel Group.

The Kidneys became main shareholders once the original Jurys Hotel was closed in the 1970s.

Afterwards, the Kidneys took over the Intercontinental Hotel in Ballsbridge, Dublin before renaming it Jurys.

Now, it’s just a matter of finding a deserving charity for all of those millions…
