WATCH: “It was the dirtiest match I ever in my life saw.” 96-year-old hurling fan delivers cutting verdict on Limerick v Clare

Kate Demolder

Age is just a number, folks.

96-year-old hurling fan, going only as Granny Theresa, provided quite the narration for Sunday afternoon’s Munster Championship encounter between Clare and Limerick, which saw Clare emerge victorious.

A proud Limerick woman, Theresa was disgusted with the antics of match, claiming that “they’re after killing one another”.

“Well it was the dirtiest match I ever in my life saw. And I saw dirty matches.”

“How they’re not blind and taken off in an ambulance I don’t know,” she concluded.

JOE spoke to John Paul, Theresa’s grandson, who informed us of his Granny’s love for the game.

“Gran is extremely passionate about hurling,” he began.

“A proud Limerick woman. She’s quite an amazing woman and I’m very close to her. She’s 96 and full of life and energy. She was very very feisty also through out the match. Very vocal.

“She’s the star of the show.”

Shame for Theresa, as Limerick walked away from the encounter defeated by a score of 0-15 to Clare’s 0-26.

Perhaps if she’d been at the match roaring her support for the Boys in Green and White, the scoreboard would have looked very differently.

Cheers to John Greaney for sending this our way. Got a story for JOE? Hit us up on Facebook or Twitter, send it to our WhatsApp number 087-4001102 or mail [email protected].
