Remember the wonderfully penis-shaped church in the States? Well the architect has come out to defend the design, claiming it he didn’t make a balls of it.
An architect involved on the design of the Christian Science church in Dixon – stop it – Illinois has defended the church and claimed that it was never intended to be viewed from overhead, which seems fair enough to us. Not that it makes it any less hilarious.
The church became a
global story earlier this month when pictures of the building spread like wildfire, but John McLane has defended the design to the hilt.
McLane quit the project over “creative difference” but was involved in the early stages and has said that it is a “bit of a stretch” to claim the church resembles a penis. Really John? Let’s take another look.
Church official Scott Shepherd told
Sauk Valley Media has said the church has taken it on the chin – fantastic phraseology in light of the story – and believes all the furore is over nothing.
“We didn’t design it to be seen as what they’re seeing," he is quoted as saying. "And we didn’t design it to be seen from above,” he told
Sauk Valley Media.
Be that as it may, it is still bringing smiles to many, many faces.
