The True Detective rumour mill is not done spinning yet…
It seems like the rumoured casting for Season Two of True Detective has been in the news for years now. However, it seems like the makers of the show might be coming closer to striking a deal for the coveted spots. It appears that the two front runners for the female starring role in the show are none other than Jessica Biel and Rosario Dawson.
Last year saw the two heavyweight movie stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson grace the small screen. Season Two of the show is looking to recast the lead roles and replace them with five main characters. It appears that our very own Colin Farrell is locked in along with Taylor Kitch (Tim Riggins to fans of the show Friday Night Lights) and Vince Vaughn. Vaughn is said to play the role of a villain but writers of the show say it is not that simple.
The final role is said to be for a hard-boiled lady cop with alcohol and gambling problems. At first it was rumoured that Elizabeth Moss of Mad Men fame was the front runner, followed by rumours of Jessica Chastain slipping into the role. There have also been rumours about Rachel McAdams’ potential involvement, but these also appeared to be short-lived.
Malin Akerman of Watchmen fame is also said to be in contention, but the main front runners are as follows:
Jessica Biel
Since coming to the fore in 7th Heaven, Biel has taken a number of roles in action films like Blade: Trinity, The A-Team and the Total Recall reboot alongside our boy once more, Colin Farrell.
Rosario Dawson
This is a choice which makes more sense to us. We can see Dawson in this role a lot more than Biel due to her history in dramatic roles like 25th Hour, Sin City and Seven Pounds. Judging by the breakdown of the character, we think Dawson is the one who should probably get the role.
Jaimie Alexander
This is the outside shot. Jaimie Alexander is probably best known as the pretty friend of Thor from the Marvel films.
