This did not go down well with the gathered crowd…

The Xperia Access Q Awards took place in London last night and, while Kasabian took home the gong for Best Live Act and Elbow won Best Album for ‘The Take Off And Landing Of Everything,’ a lot of the talk since the event has been about Jimmy Carr’s controversial joke about the recent trial of Oscar Pistorius in South Africa.

Earlier this week, Pistorius was sentenced to five years in prison for the culpable homicide of Reeva Steenkamp and, while talking to the 200-strong gathered crowd, Carr thought it would be a great idea to test out some of his new material.

Bad idea.

The professional comedian opened his speech about having to use the bathroom, but that he had to wait in a lengthy queue saying, “so frustrating, all I’m saying is that I can see it from Oscar Pistorius’ point of view. That’s not the controversial bit. Here it comes… I blame her. If she hadn’t been in that disabled toilet none of this would have happened.”

Carr went on to tell The Mirror that he thought the night “went alright” and that he was “going to go home and write some new jokes.”

Probably a good idea Jimmy. Try not to be a d*ck next time, yeah?
