JOE and 7Up Free Uplift Your Summer with some amazing alternative activities

From zorbing to skydiving, JOE and 7Up Free have you covered.

JOE

Are you ready to Uplift Your Summer?

When tourists come to visit our lovely land, or whether you’re busy planning your own country-wide staycation, it’s inevitable that we’re all going to visit some of the country’s time-honoured visitor attractions. Sure, we all know you can go and kiss the Blarney Stone or visit the Giant’s Causeway, and let’s not forget that there might be one, or two, or 37 pubs you stop off at along the way.

But did you know that there are plenty of other adrenaline-filled activities available to do, activities that are off the beaten track and that are just as much fun as showing your Granny around the local Aran jumper gift shop?

LOOK GRANNY! COASTERS WITH OUR FAMILY NAME ON THEM! AHHHH!!!

JOE’s granny likes coasters you see.

7Up Free and JOE have teamed up to help Uplift Your Summer and so we’ve taken a look at some of the best alternative activities available that Ireland has to offer…

Zorbing – JOE was lucky enough to visit Rotorua, the original home of Zorbing in New Zealand and, ever since the activity was established there in 1994, the rolling-down-a-hill-in-a-giant-bouncy-ball phenomenon has grown in popularity.

So much so, that the brilliantly fun activity that makes you feel like you’re in a giant hamster ball is now available to do in a number of places here in Ireland. Well, it does help that the country is blessed with lots hill that go down the way as well as up.

Buggy Racing  – If you fancy an adrenalin-pumping experience,  and racing  on a purpose built 1.5km super special stage track then high-speed buggy racing is just the activity for you.

No, you donkey, not buggies with babies in them.

These buggies, powered by robust Honda V-Twin petrol engines, giving strong performance from its 620cc capacity :

You can find out more at http://www.buggyracing.ie/

Airsoft – “Wanna take your friends out?” is the very apt tag line for this particular activity, as groups of (supposed) friends are able to eliminate opponenets using replica firearms known as Airsoft guns. Basically it’s like paintballing only with less painting and more pelleting.

The 14 acre lake and woodland venue at Rathbeggan, Co. Meath is one of the county’s prime Airsoft locations and you can find out more information at http://www.rathbegganairsoft.com/

Skydiving – “why would jump out of a plane that’s working perfectly well” we hear you ask? It’s a good question. And JOE’s answer? “Because it’s flippin’ incredible.”

With only gravity and somebody’s old bed sheet to help guide you back to Earth, Skydiving is a hugely popular activity the world over and, thanks to organisations like Skydive Ireland, we can experience spectacular world-class jumps over the island. That way, you’ll be able to clearly see why everyone calls Ireland the Emerald Isle.

It’s because it’s really green in case you were wondering.

Laser Clay Pigeon Shooting – Love shooting? Don’t love pigeons? Well, clay ones at least? Head to Cork where you can try out the alternative to traditional clay pigeon shooting and use shotguns with infrared beams to hit the specially designed targets. You can try and hit them anyway, we can’t help it if you couldn’t hit a cow’s bum with a banjo.
