JOE and the KC Show bring you our most memorable Monty Python movie moments

Nobody expected the Monty Python reunion...

Eoghan Doherty

One of the most famous and greatest comedy groups of all time announced their reunion last week and to celebrate, JOE and Today FM’s KC Show took a look back at some of the most memorable moments from the movies of the magnificent Monty Python.

Following the amazing news that everyone’s favourite Flying Circus would be taking flight all over again, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam (no Graham Chapman who died in 1989 unfortunately) gathered journalists to announce that, following months of “secret talks” they will be appearing in a brand new stage show, Monty Python Live (Mostly) – a show that will contain “some of Monty Python’s greatest hits, with modern, topical, Pythonesque twists.”

Monty Python Live (Mostly) will take place at the O2 Arena in London and, after the first show sold out in a phenomenal 43.5 seconds, the show’s run was extended from one date to five, and will now take place from 1st to 5th July.

It’s absolutely fantastic news we’re sure you’ll agree, especially as JOE, like the rest of the world, had thought that they were no more, had ceased to be, were bereft of life. In fact, to paraphrase the great men themselves, nobody expects the Monty Python reunion.

So, following on from our favourite Flying Circus moments, here are (a small selection of) some our favourite film sketches put together by Cleese, Chapman, Gilliam, Idle, Jones, Palin and company from their fantastic films. Enjoy, you silly people.

And Now For Something Completely Different (1971)

The infamous Dead Parrot sketch:

The Lumberjack Song:

Monty Python And The Holy Grail (1974)

“Tis but a scratch!” said the poor Black Knight

“I fart in your general direction!”

Monty Python’s Life Of Brian (1979)

“You’re all individuals!” … “I’m not.”

“Are there any woman here?”

All together now…

Monty Python’s The Meaning Of Life (1983)

Completely and utterly barmy and brilliant…

But Mr Creosote, it’s only waffffer theeen…

Of course this is just a small selection and there are many, many more memorable Monty Python movie moments there but we hoped you enjoyed this collection of chosen ones from JOE and Today FM’s KC Show. Tune in to Today FM every Friday at 1.15pm where JOE will will join KC to bring you more of the funtime Friday funnies…
