JOE’s Essential Holiday Tunes: Dario G – Carnival De Paris

What, Dario G? We hear you, but if this doesn’t bring back memories of the summer of 1998 and the World Cup of the same year for those of a certain generation then you haven’t lived people.

What, Dario G? We hear you, but if this doesn’t bring back memories of the summer of 1998 and the World Cup of the same year for those of a certain generation then you haven’t lived people.

Cynics will say that FIFA are the most shameless benefactors of the World Cup and all the money that goes with the four-yearly tournaments but Dario G hasn’t done half-bad out of them either, having been responsible for songs that, in some cases officially and others not, have been the anthems for four successive World Cups dating back to 1998.

As is so often the case, the original remains the best, in this case the very upbeat Carnival De Paris, the song that proved the backdrop for the World Cup in France 1998 and didn’t become the least bit annoying until at least three weeks into the tournament.

Sure the loud din of the trumpets might tear your eardrums apart after a few listens but the first couple of airings will transport you back 15 years in an instant to a time when Zidane and the real Ronaldo were strutting their stuff and summer tended to last a little bit longer than a week.

Enjoy!

These top holiday tunes will definitely put you in the mood for a little break away in the sun, so head on over to the Thomas Cook website for some great deals on a variety of destinations to book.
