JOE’s Hidden Treasures: London

Have you been to any of these places?

JOE

The Assassin’s Creed games have become infamous for their atmospheric game play and realistic in-depth maps. This time around, it’s London’s turn and the we must say, they have knocked it out of the park again.

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, which hits Irish stores on October 23, gives a great insight into the sights and sounds of industrial revolution time London. You can wander in and out of thousands of well known streets and it really got us thinking… what hidden treasures does today’s London have and where might we visit if the game was set in modern times?

That’s why JOE has put together a list of our favourite hidden gems of the city.

Take a stroll through a Japanese wonderland

A waterfall, a perfect pond and wandering peacocks make Kyoto Garden in Holland Park seem like an oriental wonderland. It’s one of the most beautiful places to chill out in all of London.

Visit the wonderfully absurd

The Viktor Wynd Museum of Curiosities, Fine Art & Natural History is as mad as it is wonderful. Go there to get a taste of the extraordinary. This museum on Mare Street is madness personified. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g54HR8SLvaQ Clip via Five Bar Films

Dance in a vintage ballroom

The Rivoli Ballroom is one of the most beautiful places in all of London and is located in Brockley. If you get the opportunity to visit one of the monthly Jive parties, you should definitely take it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_bWrIca9WA Clip via Roy Gough

St Dunstan-in-the-East is a historic church which was blitzed in 1941. It is now an idealyic garden and the perfect place to spend a quiet day in London. It’s located halfway between London Bridge and the Tower of London.
