This week on JOE’s Monday Motors, we look at the leaked pictures of the all-new Audi TT, we find out what Apple’s latest offering, CarPlay, is all about and there’s some good news for taxi users across Ireland.

Audi TT pics leaked

The all-new Audi TT was set to be unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show on Tuesday, March 4. However, thanks to a Dutch car forum, the guys over at Yahoo Autos managed to get their hands on a few leaked images. While the images aren’t top quality, they give us a good idea of what we can expect to see from Audi over the next week at the Geneva Motor Show. We’ll have the official images on the site as soon as they’re released, but until then you’ll have to settle for the leaked pics above.

Apple unveils new CarPlay feature

“Apple CarPlay: The best iPhone experience on four wheels” is the tagline used for Apple’s latest offering, but there’s some bad news for Irish mobile users/motorists as the feature won’t be coming to our shores anytime soon.

According to the Apple website, the service will be ‘coming soon’ to Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Republic of Korea, Spain, Switzerland, UK and USA… but there’s no mention of Ireland.

CarPlay will utilise Siri’s voice recognition software to turn reading and writing into listening and dictating. There are already quite a few apps that will be supported on CarPlay, such as Spotify and Stitcher, and CarPlay will soon be available on a range of car models from various different manufacturers.

At the moment, certain cars from Ferrari, Honda, Hyundai, Jaguar, Mercedes and Volvo incorporate the CarPlay feature, while twelve other well known manufactures – BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Kia, Land Rover, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Opel, Peugeot/Citroen, Subaru, Suzuki & Toyota – have committed to using CarPlay in future models.

You can find out more about CarPlay over on the Apple website, here.

Hailo now available nationwide

Earlier today we revealed that the taxi app better known as Hailo can now be used to hail a taxi in twenty new towns and cities across Ireland. It’s sure to come in handy when you’re caught out in some of the more rural towns in Ireland and you can find full details about the announcement over here.
