The drop in temperature has Ladbrokes to play weather forecaster and update their odds on a White Christmas across the country.
The bookmakers are offerings odds of 4/1 that people in Dublin will wake up to see the place covered in snow.
With a cold snap expected for next weekend and the unseasonably mild weather rumoured to be on the way out, you can also get odds of 33/1 on a complete white-out over the 12 days of Christmas.
Hayley O’Connor of Ladbrokes said: “A big frost this weekend could see us jingling shorter odds on a white Christmas, but it always takes the first cold snap to kick start the betting, which is a festive favourite with the punters.”
