GoFundMe set up for Irish man with cancer who needs life-saving treatment

Rudi Kinsella

Lee Wallace

The page has raised over €80,000 in one day.

Friends and family of 26-year-old from Lee Wallace are asking the public for their financial help to support Lee in his attempt to beat cancer.

The Mullingar man is currently suffering from a very rare bone sarcoma in his pelvis.

According to the GoFundMe page set up for Lee, bone sarcomas, are very rare, particularly in young adults.

Lee’s tumour is so rare it has never been seen by leading specialists in Ireland or the UK before.

It is a mixture of an Osteosarcoma, a Ewings sarcoma and a spindle cell sarcoma, therefore a definitive diagnosis has not been possible.

Financial aid will help with Lee’s ongoing treatment which will include travelling abroad for additional medical expertise and surgery to amputate the right side of his pelvis and leg.

He has traveled to Birmingham a number of times for medical assistance, but recently, the pelvic tumour has grown and the spread of cancer to his lungs has made his family’s search for a cure all the more urgent.

His family have asked for any amount of support, be it financial or otherwise, in the form of a GoFundMe page.

Amazingly, the page has already raised over €80,000 in just one day.
